The benefits and reasons for going to a belt drive system:
- Race tested: Belt drives have been used extensively on motorcycles and in race cars for many years and are tested and proven to be durable and efficient.
- Smooth: Quiet and smooth running compared to the noise of a standard bicycle chain. Patented debris ports in the sprockets shed mud and snow keeping the system working efficiently.
- Maintenance free: No oil or lubrication required = minimal maintenace and headaches. Whether you are riding in the mud on trails or wet streets with city road grime the belt system does not require the same care and attention a chain requires.
- Light weight: A carbon belt drive weighs 80 g less than a standard bicycle chain and with a single speed the gates systems saves sprocket weight when compared to multiple chainring bikes.
- Clean: Eliminate greasy pantlegs, hands or clothing when lifting your bike or touching something with an oily chain or when putting your bike in your car.
