About Me |
|
I was introduced to this sport by a friend and former neighbour. Matt Saunders would go out for training rides all the time in the early season and constantly ride up my driveway and bug me to get out and give it a try. After finally giving in, I rode his wife's bike with him to enter my first race at Coulson's Hill in Bradford. With no bike helmet for my huge melon I chose to wear a hockey helmet because I wasn't sure I wanted to put out the money if I didn't like the sport. Myles Cullen ran the series and saved me from embarrassment by lending me a bike helmet to wear. I loved the experience, I loved racing and have been hooked on it ever since. ( I even run the Spoke O'Motion Coulson Hill race series with Mr. Myles Cullen himself!) |
Goals |
| Some things just never change! I want to be faster, smoother, and in the best shape of my life! I will be focusing on my climbing this year more than most because at 185lbs it is extremely hard staying on the wheel of a guy 30-40 pounds lighter. I want to know in my heart that I'm one of the top riders in the province and every time I get on a bike I'm out to prove it! I have a very demanding road season ahead of me and for the time being my road racing goals come first. The second I know I have an open weekend with no road race to challenge me I will be joining Team Spoke O'Motion to help dominate the Ontario MTB scene. |
Why I Chose to Race for Spokes |
Well because I have a long history with the shop. My dad was one of Spokes first customers. He bought 3 Douglas Townhoppers way back when. My brothers, my cousins and my first mountain bike came from a tiny little place a few doors down from where Spokes sits now. The shop had just opened and we were apart of it. Now how cool is that?? From way back when to this day Jan and now Myles have treated me and my family like...family! And there is no better way to show my appreciation than throw on the colors and the nicest looking kit around when I'm ripping it up!
See you on the trails,
