29ers - Why they're great!
« on: April 30, 2010, 10:53:42 am »

A couple of years ago I got a Gary Fisher HiFi dual suspension for my birthday. I loved how it just eased over rocks and roots. It made riding comfortable, without feeling scary going over nasty terrain. My technical skills in mtbing are not great, but the bike took control for me through corners and tight, twisty stuff. Overall, the bike gave me confidence to ride better.

This year I had the chance to ride the Gary Fisher Superfly 100 dual suspension at the Mansfield OCup race. The bike is mega light, almost like riding a road bike. The gearing is wonderful and shifts quietly and smoothly. I couldn't believe how well the bike handled me - it adjusted to my moves through the single track. The bike even made climbing seem easy. I managed to place 7th in the race, even after a year of not racing.

Having rode both the HiFi and the Superfly, I couldn't believe how different the two bikes feel from each other. Who would have thought a bike could give you so much confidence? I think a bike that gives you confidence can definitely put you in a better head space to improve your skills as a technical rider. Riding the Superfly I just go, I don't worry.

If you haven't tried a 29er, you got to. You won't be disappointed.

Yours in riding,
Kelly
