All hard efforts and the seemingly endless training schedule eventually come together as planned, and your reward is a bike that's built to perform just as intensely as you. The Vertex 970 RSL's stiff carbon chassis delivers winning results on every ride, whether you're hammering on your local trails or charging World Cup circuits. Fox handles front-end shock absorption with the airy and precise 32 SC Performance 100mm fork, which guides a set of Sun Helix SL wheels wrapped in Maxxis Ikon 29 x 2.2-inch tires for predictable handling in a fast-rolling package. The Shimano XT/XTR drivetrain delivers accurate, quick shifts, while XT hydraulic disc brakes make easy work of bringing blazing speed to a halt for controlled cornering and descending capability. Aluminum cockpit bits from Rocky Mountain give you the strength you need, creating a featherweight hardtail that wants nothing more than to be ridden at the limit.

    Comments:

Picked up a 2015 Rocky Mountain 970 RSL as a replacement for a Trek Procaliber I was running and haven't looked back. Rocky Mountain have outdone themselves with this Carbon Fibre frame construction, it truly is hard to fathom how they managed to make such a rigid/strong/durable/responsive frame this thin and light. I have several other full suspension bikes (Cannondale Scalpel, Santa Cruz Nomad, Scott Spark 950), and they are all have their own specific great traits, however when its out-and-out speed for XC trails, i ALWAYS reach for the Vertex, and it never faults. Totally worth every penny, and was a great investment.
