I bought a certified reconditioned KICKR SNAP Trainer to save a few bucks. I'm impressed with the quality. Having used other bike trainers before, I'm really surprised how incredibly quiet this is. It can easily be used in a living room without disturbing anyone else. Works great with Zwift, though the high inclines don't feel as realistic as they should, even when everything is calibrated. There's no way that I could even manage a 14 degree climb in the real world after a long ride, but it can be done on the KICKR. Still, it does give pretty good tactile response. Better than the others I've owned.
I have used this he trainer for the past month integrated with the Zwift app via Bluetooth. Degree of effort for various grades apprear very accurate. Very stable, beautifully designed and constructed. if you are looking for a great indoor trainer, the Kickr Snap is worth very penny.
I went back and forth on the Snap vs. the Kickr direct drive for about a month before deciding. Normally, I opt for the premium model but I decided that the Snap was perfect for my needs. I train about 80-100km on it per week - the rest outdoors. I bought a low-end Shimano wheel with a Vittoria training tire for about $100 - which you definitely need. Rollers eat regular tires and make a mess. I mount an Ipad up front and I regularly ride up to the radio tower on Zwift Watopia - where some of the inclines are quite steep but the Snap does an excellent job of simulating climbs. It's been a game changer and I look forward to my indoor training with the Snap!
Excited to get this trainer and use it with zwift. I quickly found the power readings were unexpectedly low and believe the sensor isn't dropping out. Even on the wahoo utility app the Bluetooth sensor reads 50-60% at best which is trouble and I believe a source of getting dropouts. I've also tried using an ant device an inch from the flywheel. If the sensor in the flywheel isn't strong enough to work with a iPhone sitting on your handlebars what is the point. I will be putting in a ticket to wahoo because I don't think this working correctly.
I bought the kickr snap to save some money compared to the Kickr. After using the Kickr Snap 4 times my rear wheel got burned because of a extremely hot roller. Apparently the only thing I did differently was to increase the resistance %. Now I have a damaged tyre that I have to replace because I use the bicycle also to ride outside. Not only that, I have to buy an additional wheel with a special training tyre, in order not to be changing the tyre all the time I train on the roller or on the roads. So +200 € I didn't expect. Also there are no clear instructions in how to tighten the roller, how to check if the spin down was correct and so on.
I bought the trainer with the intention of spending more time riding inside following two serious cycling accidents. I'm 63 y/o and am now moderately disabled from a vertebral blow out fracture and ruptured disc. I recently had another crash resulting in 13 fractures and a collapsed lung. I ride with friends of mine on Zwift. In retrospect, I wished I'd spent the additional $500 and bought the direct drive Wahoo kickr so I would need to deal with the regular calibration needed to keep the wheeled model accurate. You can train a lot harder on line because you don't need to beware of dogs, cars, stop signs and stop lights.
The KICKR SNAP trainer gives you a reason to ride inside. It's easy to setup and when coupled with Zwift lets you ride when weather is bad and have some fun doing it. Gone are the days riding when the weather is sketchy or when I'm strapped for time. I can ride daily. Fantastic product.
I love my Kickr Snap! It's prefect for focused training with 3rd party apps/software. I would recommend this as an investment for any cyclist that wants to get more serious about focused training. I am currently using my Snap with a 2017 Norco Threshold.
It has all the modern features, it is faultless and vell ... quiter than my wifes VW Polo diesel. It looks, feels and actualy is solid. I do not like the blue/red diodes flashing on it however.
Really like it, true road feel design and works really well with Zwift. Having some trouble with wattage drop outs but am sure it's probably user error. The product is really well built and easy to use.
