Remember: This series is yours! If you have any suggestions, recommendations, or feedback – positive or negative – let me have it! If you don't tell me, we cannot improve.
We are where we are today because of you. I remember that every day.

I took over this series back in 2002, while employed at The Cyclepath, when the torch was passed to me from the departing manager, the inimitable Mike Britten.
At the time I viewed it a daunting task: Something that was expected of me and was sure to cause more than a few headaches and offer little reward.
Outside of being a store manager, though, I was, and remain, a biker first. And it was as a biker that I dove into rebuilding the Coulson Hill Weekly Series to its former glory.
At the time we were drawing 30 riders – sometimes as many as 50.
Fast forward a few years and I had partnered with Jan Mikkelsen, owner of Spoke O'Motion, and was eager to bring the series back to its roots. Spokes was the first store to be intimately involved with hosting a regular local event for riders and brought Coulson to the forefront as a local hotspot in the early 1990s. And, in my mind, that speaks volumes about Jan's commitment to the cycling community specifically, and, even more importantly, to the community at large.
With help from my friends and fellow riders – that's you guys and gals! – we have grown to an event frequently serving more than 100 riders a week.
It brings Ed and I a great deal of satisfaction to see young and old alike, hammering it up and battling it out to see who can emerge a champion. Regardless of the stats and the points, each of you is a winner in my books. You rock and you roll...and here's to the keeping those wheels spinning.
The old inspire the young and the young forge the future of the sport itself. We are grateful and thankful to you both.
One other note: Our winter training program will start soon. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact me. Details will be posted on the Spoke O'Motion site shortly. I will make you faster for 2008...guaranteed! |
