Rocky Mountain's Altitude 730 MSL has a knack for climbing, dexterity for descending, and an aptitude for awesomeness. Built with a carbon front end and aluminum rear, and featuring Rocky Mountain's Ride-9 adjustable geometry, the Altitude is as versatile as your riding style. The suspension is easily tunable as well with 150mm of SmoothLink rear suspension and a Manitou Mattoc fork with 160mm of trail-devouring travel. For the go, you've got a 2x10 Shimano drivetrain, and Race Face cranks provide the power. A wide Race Face bar and stubby stem give you plenty of leverage to muscle through techy sections. And, with stout 27.5-inch Wheeltech wheels, proper Maxxis rubber, and powerful Shimano SLX discs putting the clamps on, charging hard is the standard, no matter what direction you're going.
Rocky Mountain's Angular Bushing Concept (ABC) pivots consist of an angular contact bushing (yellow) which rotates on a tapered alloy pivot. Carefully controlled tolerances eliminate binding on the pivot for smooth suspension movement. And, they are extra light and increase rear end stiffness by eliminating play.
|Rocky Mountain's FORM tubing pushes the limits of tube and frame design to create their unique riding feel. Every detail of the FORM frame-tube design has a purpose, from the outer shape and profile, to the wall thickness, tapers, flares and bends. This attention to detail, paired with premium materials and manufacturing processes, allows Rocky Mountain to push the boundaries of bicycle design.|
Rocky Mountain's Ride-9 system enables you to customize the geometry and rear suspension rate with two interlocking inserts that allow for nine different positions.
By moving the shock forward, the geometry slackens and the suspension rate becomes more progressive, giving a nice ramp up for bottomless-feeling travel (image above, dotted line). It’s ideal for aggressive downhill riding. When you move the shock backwards, the geometry becomes quicker and the suspension more supple (blue line), which is great for ripping around technical singletrack and increasing climbing traction.
When you move the shock upwards (solid black) it allows lighter riders to run shocks at higher pressures, and moving the shock downwards (red line) allows a heavier rider to run lower shock pressures. So no matter what you weigh, this allows you to run the rear shock in the sweet spot with correct sag for smooth, consistent suspension.
